Every year, Pack 22 participates in a number of different fun and exciting activities. These activities are meant to inspire the Scouts creativity, learning, adventure, and understanding or the world around them.
Den Meetings
Den Meetings are the most important part of Cub Scouting. It is where Cub Scouts build friendships, work together to learn new things, and progress towards earning their common badge of rank. Most Dens meet once or twice per month – meeting times and days vary per Den.
Pack Meetings
Pack meetings bring together all of Pack 22’S dens once a month during the school year to recognize all the scout’s achievements and share information about upcoming events.
Pack Meetings are typically on the third Sunday of each month at 3:00 p.m., usually in the upper hall at The First Congregational Church of Braintree.
Service Projects
Pack 22 participates in a number of Service Projects from collecting toiletries and supplies for homeless shelters, collecting and wrapping gifts for the elderly, cleaning up church grounds, and even building benches for community parks.
Pack Campouts
Pack 22 goes camping at least once a year at one of the local council campsites. Campouts start Saturday and end Sunday before lunch.
Campouts often include activities like hiking, fishing, campfire programs, and rank-level adventures.
Field Trips & Overnight Trips
Each year, Dens attend a number of different trips from visiting the Braintree Police Department or Scout Day at Fenway Park to overnight trips at Battleship Cove or the EcoTarium. These are great ways for the Scouts to expand their knowledge and to further build their friendship with each other.
Hiking
In Pack 22, hiking is an important aspect of the Scouting experience. At Pack 22 we use hiking as a way to expand a Scouts knowledge and understanding of the outdoors and wilderness. It also helps keep the kids physically fit while providing a sense of adventure and fun!
Pinewood Derby
Scouts learn engineering and woodworking skills to build a car they’ll send racing down our three-lane, forty foot aluminum track. Prizes are awarded for speed, design, and creativity.
Cub Scouts learn to celebrate their own cars and to cheer for others, too. Pinewood Derby fosters sportsmanship and a healthy competition while having a little bit of something for everyone involved.
Raingutter Regatta
Much like the Pinewood Derby, Scouts learn engineering and woodworking skills to build a boat that they’ll blow down one of the four lanes on our boat track. Prizes are awarded for speed, design, and creativity.
Blue & Gold Banquet
Pack 22 celebrates Scouting’s Anniversary in February with a “birthday party” called the Blue and Gold Banquet… It brings our families together for an evening of fun and cheer, complete with awards, pot luck dinner, and kid-friendly entertainment. It’s an event you don’t want to miss.
Braintree Day Parade
Every year, Pack 22 celebrates or Nation’s Independence and participates in the Braintree Day Parade. Its a great way to celebrate our nation and the town of Braintree. All the Scouts ride in a Pinewood Derby Car Float and hand out candy to people.
Treaty of Paris
Every November, Pack 22 puts together an event to commemorate the Treaty of Paris of 1783 which ended the Revolutionary War. This event helps to educate the public while honoring John Adams and John Hancock, who were two members of Braintree that played a prominent part in shaping our country into what it is today.
Mayflower Council Events
Pack 22 is part of the Mayflower Council, which stretches across 62 cities and towns in Eastern and MetroWest Massachusetts. Mayflower Council puts on a number of events that Scouts love like the Klondike Derby, Camporees, and the Chuckwagon.
